Source? From context it's pretty clear that Blume is right
I am not disagreeing Blume, he picked the best word available in English. But purple from a source other than the murex would not be purpura and muricis, do you agree?
Muricis probably refers to the creature, but purpurae in ...

Re: FORGERY!! By Pro-Tekheleth video
I don't think there is an accurate English translation here. Translation should be something like "clothing dyed with murex", but there is no English word for that. (As opposed to Latin)

You sure the textile has been altered?
Perhaps it just depends on the lighting during the photo

New Kunteres חותם של אמת
I saw on the Otzar Hachochma forum a new kunteres called חותם של אמת. It discusses mainly the historical proofs that the murex was used for blue, and touches on some other subjects as well. You can download it for free here.

Cooking the murex dye
Dr. Ziderman mentions in his articles that sybthetic mbi can turn blue if it is cooked at 60 c. He also mentions that the murex can turn blue if the garment is cooked after it is already dyed. He never mentions if the MUREX would turn blue if it is cooked BEFORE it is dyed. A friend of mine tried it ...

Re: Must children wear Techeiles?
Professor Koren discusses all the points you mentioned. It was impossible to get blue with exposure to sunlight, as he explains in great detail in his article.
additionally, i dont believe he ever mentioned that there was a different undiscovered species of murex that dyed blue.

Re: Must children wear Techeiles?
1. I've read tens of articles about techeiles, and this is what it all boils down to. Some also mention the fact that no other snail is recorded in ancient history books. But that is not much of a proof on its own merit, since there is so little written about mollusk dyeing to begin with. The other ...

Re: Must children wear Techeiles?
Well I don't think there is proof at all for the murex from a halachik standpoint. The only proof there is, is assuming the chilazon is a snail, so where are all the shells of the chilazon? (I'm saying this after reading the articles of many historians and academics. This is what it all boils down ...
